A not-so-scary Halloween SURPRISE! Halloween is a fun-filled holiday for children everywhere to dress up as their favorite characters from superheroes to princesses. Three years ago, our Scott & Wallace team was made aware that some of the students from low-income households would otherwise be unable to afford a new costume this year leading up to the school’s annual Character Day, Trunk or Treat events, and the Halloween holiday itself.
Three years later, we are blessed to be able to continue our tradition of bringing a little unexpected joy into these children’s lives. We traveled to Sabal Palm, Astoria Park, and Pineview Elementary to donate over 150 Halloween costumes as a part of their ‘Halloween Spooktacular Surprise!’ Children were able to look through the racks of costumes, pick their favorite, and try them on until they found their perfect fit. Each child also received a brand new trick-or-treat bag of their very own accompanied by their first bundle of goodies to kick off the week of festivities.
“What made this year different than the rest was the audible gasp that the children had when I told them about the surprise, but also the fact that Friday is our character dress-up day, and the children that got these costumes today would not have had a costume if it had not been for Scott and Wallace, so this is a really big deal,” says Principal Carmen Conner of Pineview Elementary School.
It brought us immense joy to add to the anticipation and excitement of Halloween 2023 and ensure that each child at our local Title I Elementary Schools had the opportunity to celebrate and get creative with their favorite costumes.
“It’s a chance to interact with the community in a meaningful way and what better way than to enhance the Halloween experience for elementary school kids,” Robert Scott, partner at Scott & Wallace explains.
We would like to give a BIG thank you to the school Principals for their aid in this event and the chance to create some smiles in the community. To learn more about the amazing schools of Sabal Palm, Astoria Park, and Pineview Elementary, please visit https://www.leonschools.net/.
