J. Michael Conley Elementary, Receives $2,500 Donation to Fund Food Pantry

During another year of uncertainty and a slew of difficult decisions, Leon County Schools and Conley Elementary’s Food Pantry financial support from local law firm, Scott & Wallace LLP, remains unwavering for the fourth consecutive year. The firm is set to present the school with $2,500.00 on Wednesday, August 18 at 10am at J. Michael Conley Elementary School to fund the school’s food pantry at 100%.

The local Second Harvest Food Bank reports 1 in 4 children are hungry and close to 20 percent of Leon County residents are struggling with poverty. Scott & Wallace LLP has sponsored the school’s food pantry since 2018, and the pantry feeds roughly 25 families throughout a school year who would likely go without on the weekends.

“Our community needs support now more than ever, and it’s extremely important to our firm to provide for the students who need it most,” says Robert Scott, Partner of Scott & Wallace LLP.

Leon County Schools has not been shy about their efforts to deliver meals to students outside at pick-up areas, as thousands of students depend on the meals they get at school. In two and a half weeks, the school district gave out 63,000 meals, helping families across the county. These efforts and needs have not gone unnoticed and business owners like, Scott & Wallace, are following suit finding ways to provide.

“It takes a village,” says Rocky Hanna, superintendent of Leon County Schools. “Our school food pantry’s are partially-funded by local businesses and community members alike and we are thankful for the generosity of Scott & Wallace LLP.”
