Leon County Schools Superintendent, Rocky Hanna, and Scott & Wallace, surprised the nine year, Swift Creek Middle School Principal, Sue Rishell, as the January Principal of the Month.
Swift Creek Middle School has held an A rating for over 20 years and has persevered along with other schools in the district during an unprecedented school year.Â
“This has been a very challenging year for every school and their school family. Here at Swift Creek we are a family and I just marvel at what our teachers have done,” said Principal Rishell shortly after being surprised at her school by Superintendent Hanna as the January Principal of the Month.
Spoken like a true and dedicated leader, Principal Rishell acknowledges her teachers, staff and students first and foremost.Â
“They are my heroes, and I constantly marvel at their unwavering support for our kids. We have maintained an A school for 14 years, but more importantly and far beyond a letter grade is that we make a difference in kids lives every day. Not just academically but who they are as people. I could not be more proud of that,” exclaimed Principal Rishell.Â
Scott & Wallace is in year three of its partnership with Leon County Schools to recognize the Principal of the Month. With 24 principals honored to date, Leon County Schools Superintendent, Hanna, selects a monthly winner based on numerous criteria, including: leadership, resiliency, morale, school beautification, and more.
“Our Leon County Principals spend so much time building others up, the Principal of the Month Award came about as our opportunity at the district level, to build the Principals up and recognize achievements, because there are many,” said Hanna.
